Read Naturally Fluency Program

Read Naturally is a fluency program designed to develop in readers the skills for fluent and effortless reading: speed, accuracy, and proper expression. Three strategies that figure prominently in the Read Naturally program are reading along with a fluent model (by listening to a CD), individual repeated readings of the same passage at the student’s reading level, and progress monitoring. Students choose from a leveled series of non-fiction texts, proceed through the steps in the program, and chart their own progress. It is a highly motivating and individualized approach to developing reading fluency. There is also a comprehension component to this program that ensures that students are paying attention to meaning while they practice reading fluently.
